I need help!

Okay so I was changing Fishy & Blue's tanks because of the whole finrot thing. My boyfriends dad has a test kit, but it's 15 years old. Should I still trust the chemicals and the results?? If so, then my ammonia levels are dangerously high and I don't know why. The results said that it may be deadly to the fish. And I don't want to lose my babies. I was thinking that maybe the mixture of aquarium salt and water conditioner could do it....but I don't know. It's making me sad. I'm scared to put them in their tanks. If it is ammonia, then what can I do??

Just clean your tanks very well then test again...It will probably show up clean with nothing wrong....

Well when you do a full water change,should be no ammonia present. Only in their old water,from their waste. I wouldnt trust an old test kit. They do expire after awhile. Go buy a new set,like API freshwater kit. Salt and water conditioner wont affect the ammonia test,unless you use Amquel. That can mess with API test results.

So,if you did a 100% change,no worries. And get a new test kit. lol. They will be fine.

yeah I just did the 100% test and it said the levels were high. But I guess I shouldn't trust the chemicals. 15 years is pretty old, lol. It was just worrying me and I kinda freaked out.

Uhm my boyfriend just noticed that Fishy is getting white around the gills, oh gosh. Now what??!!
