Tian Tian posted a thread called "How to travel with your betta" on betta fish care. However, I have read that you can put them in a little container and hold them on your lap the whole trip. But you would have to check with the airline first to be sure they will allow you to do that. I don't see why they wouldn't let you though...it's just a little container with your buddy in it

I think they have restrictions on liquids. I don't think you can even carry a bottle of water on a plane.

They probably changed all rules on planes since security is so high anymore. I obviously haven't flown in a while...I think the last time I flew was in 2005. So you are probably right. ifish, maybe you can find someone to fish sit for you? How long are you going on vacation for?

Well, I work as a pet sitter, but You have to be in Western Oregon before I can offer my services.... If not, check with you're local vet, sometimes they keep lists of certified pet sitters.
