5 week old fry nipping fins

I have some 5 and a half week old fry and notice some getting aggressive and chasing each other around. I normally wouldn't think anything of it but I'm starting to notice a few of them have bite marks taken out of their fins - looking almost like a tore up breeding pair, if you know what I mean.

They really aren't very big yet, none of them starting to show much color. I'm just curious if this is normal for plakats or if I should be considering pulling bullies already. They still seem really small.

At that age they start getting a bit aggressive with each other and the more aggressive ones will have to be jarred. An experienced breeder can give you better advice than me, though.
Aww, cute babies!!

Bettas can be aggressive fish even when they are so small. I have photos of young fry sparring with each other and it's not all display.

They seem pretty small still to think about separating. Have you got anything in the tank to provide cover for them? A couple handfuls of java moss can be good at giving the bullied fry somewhere to retreat to.

One of my recent batches I had to jar them at 6 weeks as they started missing scales >.< See if you can pick out the more aggressive ones and jar them - they should be getting air from the surface at this point and should be fine.
