A clean tank might be a good first step in helping him. I've never had this happen to my fish, the only closing together was when Geshia my crown tail jumped out of her holding tank and injured her tail, and it healed together. I also treat any fin ails with a little salt and water conditioner and frequent changes.

That's so strange! I agree with trio though, clean water and a little salt might help tremendously. If his water feels slimy then definitely change it. Scrubbing the inside of the tank really good with hot water might help alot. Also clean all his decorations and stones with really hot water and see if that helps. I hope he gets better soon!!! :]

aquarium salt is like really, really cheap. API has some for like $2. Just add like 1/4 teaspoon per gallon, and it works awesome. It will take time, but just condition, and use some salt. Just keep him happy and he'll get better in no time. =D

thanks to all for the help.

ok so far nothing has change..i treid to "encourage him" to flair at my girlfriends crowntail...his gills flaired and that was it so i moved him out of its sight.

still no change thus far.Lol ey if only things were R2 over here lol ,ok so i worked out a quick conversion...Our female betta sell for around the price we pay for 1 2lt coke (R 15.00) and our males sell for like the price of 3-4 Bottles of 2lt coke lol If we check its like R8.50 to $1 . how much do your bettas cost in the states?
