I think that it's ich. I've read about it in the forum. I'm pretty sure that's what some people have described. Sorry if I'm wrong though!

Ich presents itself as white spots, not stringy "things". An ich infestation looks as if someone has sprinkled salt on the fish. White stringy things sounds like some other type of parasite. The only illness/disease I have experince with is ich so hopefully someone else can shed some light on what these 'stringy like thing with 3 round things attached" is.

Any chance you can post a pic??

I would agree with Aunt Kymmie that its some kind of parasite.Try googling parasites in bettas or tropical fish.

It very well could be poo. It could also be fungus. Tian-Tian drove me nuts for two weeks straight because it would come and go just as you described.

Give the tank 100% water change, scrub town the tank and BOIL any tank decorations (including and especially fake plants). If there's any live plants, I'd be really wary of them. I'd also invest in some Betta medication, "Betta Revive" or Jungle Fungus Eliminator work well. Just be sure to follow the directions on the medication to prevent overdosing your Betta!

Good luck. :)
