New betta!

So I was at PetSmart today to pick up miscellaneous tank items when I passed by the betta section. I had chatted with the fish specialist yesterday about various topics and she had let me know the new betta shipment was coming in today, so it was impossible to resist! I hadn't planned on buying one today, but I stopped to look anyway. I think someone here posted about not doing this very thing because you'll go home with one...yep, that happened!

No pics just yet because he's very fond of hiding in the rock cave right now (common for bettas in new tanks to conceal themselves awhile, yes?) but he's an absolutely stunning fish. I never thought I'd find that quality at a large chain store. Brilliant red and white half-moon with maybe some other coloring. It's hard to see because he hides himself so well, but he did eat a few pellets not long after being acclimated and introduced to his very own 10 gal. His fins are full and have no tears, he hasn't bitten himself at all. The store cashier marveled at how healthy he looked.

The others actually looked pretty good, too. And this PetSmart keeps them in larger containers than I've seen anywhere. I had planned to visit some LFSs later in the day to take a look at their stock, but I saw him and just knew he was mine.

I'll decide once I've seen him a bit more, but the name Romeo did pop into my head. Not quite sure why, he probably just looks like it. :)

Day 2. He's out and about more, though he still likes to hide from me. But I was able to snap a few pictures of him this morning, which are in the attachments. I think I may stick with the name of Romeo. He just looks like it. :)

That's a super pretty fish. And yeah, I think Romeo fits pretty well.
