I've done that before. I think it helps if you lower the water level.

i do the scoop cup thing to and its never happened to me, i was wondering is pouring them back in their tank bad? should we use a net or is the same either way?

I always pour them back in. I think its ok as long as you do it gently.

ok, but when you do pour them in, can you return them with the water the previously had in their tank? I mean, it wont be much, but is it fine either way to do it?

When I clean my tanks, I always put the fish in a gladware container filled with the clean, dechlorinated water I'm putting in the tank.
