I am the most horrible person in the world....I put that heater in and it was perfectly fine, keeping it at an even 77-80 all this time. I don't know what happened, it went haywire or something, and the weater shot up to 90 degrees or higher and it killed him. I am never using one of these again. I brought him home to save him, and I killed him trying to help....

:( So sorry to hear. It's not your fault, don't be too hard on yourself.

I knew I shouldn't put it in there...but it was working perfectly since I brought him home after work last night. I have no idea what happened, it was just within the past few hours because I checked him when I got home this afternoon.

Those heaters are a piece of **** I almost boiled my fish as well a few weeks ago I left for 30minutes to 1hour to go get a thermometer when I got back the water was warmer then my finger when stuck it in, I was so scared he would die of temperature shock, it's horrible, has horrible reviews, doesn't have an auto shut off, doesn't stop heating up and have had many reports of it melting. I'm so sorry for your loss, but really that wasn't your fault that was the manufacturers for making a cheap product that's promised to work for people but instead kills their pets because their unwillingness to spend more to make a product that works properly.

I just got so mad I went off on the company, they heard some..."colorful" words from me. They're brand is great for my reptile stuff, so I trusted them for this.

If/when you get a reply, can you post it?

I made the mistake of using one of those... The thermometer I was using happened to be faulty too, and when I verified it the water turned out to be ninety something degrees O.o.

yeah, absolutely. they haven't replied at all yet, but we'll see. I wish I had known, I would've never tried it. I should've just left it alone, I was just afraid he was cold.
