Chlorine in a recently cycled tank

Hello,

First of all, thank you to everyone on this forum because it has been helpful in setting up my five gallon tank for my betta and cycling it. I finally decided to register because of a bit of a problem.

I finally cycled my tank tonight, and did a weekly 10% water change, unfortunately I forgot to dechlorinate first in all my excitement. As soon as I realized what I had done I added the drop. My question is, could the chlorine in my tap water have killed off the bacteria that quickly? It was only a minute between adding the water and adding the drop.

Thank you to anyone who can add some insight so I know if I have to start all over again.

It was only one minute? Continue to monitor your water paraments, doing water changes as needed. Someone else will have to offer the answer to this as I don't know but I don't think one minute is enough time to wipe out everything.

You only did a 10% water change and the new water was not directly poured into the filter.
Chances are very unlikely that the cycle was harmed. Do still keep testing, but all should be fine.

Your water might not even have chlorine, mine doesnt, just saying.
