My tank is PH5

Hello,

I use wall water PH7, suddenly my water is PH5. I didn't tested my water 6 months, because my water always PH7. I wonder why ?
My tanks is 5 gallon a Betta fish, snails, IAL,live plants, two pots and small filter.
I change water 0.5 gallon everyday.
Temputure is over 80F, GH7 and KH2.
My fish always has fin-rot or turn red.
I add pet moss a few days ago. And I also add crushed shell a little bit, I am afraid if my PH is high then.

Do you have any idea why my PH is down ?

IAL and Peat moss with both drastically lower your pH level. Oak leaves alone took my pH from 6.5 down to 5.5 so that's most likely your culprit.

Why do you change half a gallon a day may I ask?

Uh, I see. But I could remove Peat moss, but I have to add IAL.
I also tested only IAL water, but it's PH7.

An aquashop stuff recommend that. And I know it's good way to water change twice a per week.

Thank you,

Yeah, I'd get rid of the peat moss, you can keep the IAL though as that won't change your pH much, but the peat moss will. And you don't want your pH to be fluctuating everywhere for your little ones.

As for the water changes, you can continue if that's what works for you I just personally felt it was weird haha. You are using a siphon to clean though? Or are you just scooping it out?

Okay, thank you. I'll get rid of Peat moss tomorrow.
My friend recommend the water change too. I am using a siphon. I clear away with poop, dust and dead leaves.
