New home for Mr. Fishy

I took the advice from the forum and purchased a larger home for the fish I'm watching. Hopefully the owner will reimburse me, and if not, at least I feel better giving the fish a larger home.

Instead of the teeny tiny little square plastic tank that held less than 1 liter, Mr. Fishy (as I call him) has a new glass 'vase' home of over 3 liters! He's loving it. He's made bubbles before but this time I think it's what you refer to as a bubble nest - at least that's what I would call it.

And oh my goodness, he's so very active. When I'm home I'll put a light over the water and it helps it get the water warmer and that's when he's moving almost non-stop - not that I know what a fish is thinking, if fish think at all, but it does appear he is very happy.

I have him for another 8 to 10 days and it will be hard giving him back.
I just wanted to share the good news of his new home. Thanks again to those that have helped me with my questions.

What a wonderful thing for you to do! Hopefully the owners will appreciate your compassion and reimburse you. If not, you'll have peace of mind knowing you did the right thing. Hopefully, they'll notice what a change it's made in his behavior.

Well, "Mr. Fishy" went back to his owner on Saturday.

Today I see the owner and I'm told the fish hasn't eaten.

The fish ate Saturday night, but not since then.

I ask all sorts of questions (learned from this forum!) and it appears the owner did everything right, though the temp of the water isn't known. When I had the fish, I kept a small intense lamp over the water for several hours in the morning and evening and that helped warm the water and the fish was very active.

I suggested the owner join this forum and ask for help or to please give the fish back to me. I don't know if "Mr. Fishy" is still alive as I write this, but I sure hope so.

Aww, I hope he is doing well. If I were you, I would really plead with this person, to let you have the fish. You seemed like a very good care taker, and for the well being of the fish, he should go back to you! Hope everything works out!

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. Yes, I know I can get my own betta, and maybe I will; I really liked this fish and I am so sad he's not doing well. I talked with the owner tonight after I posted and I did plead for them to give the fish back to me - but the answer is no.
