Confused,kh/gh??

Okay so I figured some things out. Even though my brain is about to explode with all this info,I figure Id share it with yall. Maybe someone has had similiar experiences??

So in short
*gh is 4.48 dh which means it soft (good for bettas)
*kh is 1.68 dh which is way way low (not good for bettas)

So the low kh means you can have rapid ph swings,resulting in multiple fish deaths.
I read add airstones to their tanks,well the three who died all had airstones. So obviously thats not enough.

Now to figure out how to raise KH without raising PH.

Any ideas lol??

I read baking soda,but it doesnt keep it stable. Off to find something else.

If I am reading stuff correctly, kH and pH go hand in hand. If you raise one the other will rise, if you lower one, the other will lower also.

I am also seeing people say crushed coral will gradually raise your kH as it dissolves and breaksdown ... but that it won't affect your pH to drastically.

I usually don't measure those and I've never had sudden fish deaths.

So I am now wondering,would using bottled water mixed with tap mess up Fishys cycled tank? His ph is rather high,7.8. Dont want to raise his anymore than it is. Maybe he be fine without bottled?

This is where I found that info at, it gives you detailed instructions on how to go about doing the coral if you are going to.

I'm not good with cycled tanks, so I will leave that for the people who know more about that.

So i tested Smurfys tank (guess i should do everyones!!) Her KH only took two drops to turn yellow.
Its only 1.120! Lower than the tap. NO wonder i had fish die. Should be at least 4 for bettas.

Wow! I hope you found the answer to your problem.

Hah yeah,but still dunno how to fix it. Its the same today. The GH i posted was an old one,its now a 50 or 2.80,very soft. So I lost on both accounts. The pH is still sitting at 7.0 though.
