How do I treat a torn fin

Ok. I came home from my dads and there was a new betta sitting on the counter. Mom says the other one died. :( I got the new fish situated, he is very happy, perky, and exploring. He is a beautiful red VT. He is relitavly small and he has a few torn fins. Is there any way I can heal him?
Thanks

Lots of clean water and maybe a salt bath or two (see neenjar thread). Fins will usually heal up quickly with frequent water changes.

Just make sure to keep the water temperature consistent, since fluctuating changes in the water can stress them out and sometimes make matters worst. D:

Pretty much the standard procedure :P

Aquarium Salt, they should have it at pet stores. Stuff like table salt is poisonous to them D:

My Rusty is recovering from fin rot he's had 2 short salt baths and treated with Melafix (in very small doses for a week and he is healing well. Definately a salt bath and a little bettafix. Bettafix is basically Melafix only lower in concentration of tea tree oil. Works great!

I second that ;) Click on the link in my signature for instructions on how to administer the salt bath.
