Buying: Java Moss

I'm looking to buy between 1/2-1 cup (1-2 golf ball sizes i suppose?) of java moss for my spawn tank. 1/2 cup at my LFS is $5, and on eBay it's about $6 with free shipping. So I'm looking around that price range. I'd rather my money go to someone on here, rather than my LFS...but I don't want to overpay if I don't have to either.

Thanks! PM me or post here and we can work something out!

You can use a breeding mop is you don't want to spend your money on a bunch of java moss. If you do want to buy a small amount you can use the mop while it is growing. It isn't necessary to have successful spawns.

I'm going to make a really big one this weekend for my fry to play in since they seem to like the small one I tossed in there so much. Meanwhile my tiny ball of java moss is slowllllly growing.

I do recommend actual moss as it creates space for little microorganisms such as infusoria that fry can feed on

I did make a spawning mop today, but I also plan on getting some java moss as well, and I am also going to try hornwort in the spawning tank also. Like you mentioned, for the infusoria and whatever other tiny things grow. Thank you! :) I may just have to get the moss from my LFS and hope for the best...the plants I've gotten there have always been very nice and mostly pest free, but I did find a leech in my tank, and that's the only place it could have come from. Hence why I wanted to look here and online first! :)
