Arrow Different Batches -

I currently have 4 batches of Bettas growing out. All about a month old now.

1st -
HMPK Dumbo Marble Blue Male x HM Royal Blue Solid female

2nd -
HMPK metallic Green Full mask Male x HM Green Solid Female

3rd -
HMPK Dumbo Salamander Male x HM red Solid Female

4th -

HM Dumbo Butterfly Steel Male x HM Green Solid Female

They are all starting to color up nicely and I cant wait to see what develops. However, It had been a few years since I bred Bettas and I basicall used these as 'practice runs' in a sense to get back into it.

I have some imports coming in next week as Ive really taken a liking to the dragon Plat/blue/Green marble patterns. I would Also like to focus this into a giant line. the finnage will need work, but thats what makes it fun

These are the ones coming in. They are from three different breeders -

Giants -

End goal will be to have a line of Giant HM and a line of Giant HMPK-

All thoughts/advise is welcome -

The Giant Male did it for me. I had to find a few others to justify the order in my eyes lol

They get here Tuesday. I will be conditioning the Giants for breeding, and hope to later cross the male to some of the reg size females, and work back up to giant in the F2's. Have two separate lines going.

Sounds like a good plan.
Hopefully they arrive healthy so you can get right to conditioning.

Are you planning to keep multiple spawns going at the same time or a couple months apart?

Very nice. Which breeder did you get your giant stock from?

Good luck on your giant
Hope u succeed on what I fail at
It just got to pricy n took to much space for me to continue with the giant
I can't get a decent spawn out of them to
Just get about 20 fish max out of a breeding
Plus most male r lazy n eat there egg
Half of the male I've bred won't breed
My biggest fish was a hmpk at 3.25" long
Have a few long fin at 5.5"long but there body was to weak to support the fin
So I've just give up

It is certainly way more difficult to breed giants. Many reasons Curly said are true. They are also easily constipated but require a huge food intake. Spawning can be a clumsy ordeal with true giants, fathers are messy nesters too ime.
