Help me!!!!

OK, I have no idea what is going on. Fred was doing just fine. Swimming and eating. I just walked out in the kitchen and it was laying on his side at the top of the tank. I thought he was dead but as soon as I moved the lid he started darting around the tank like a crazy fish and then went right back to laying on his side at the top again.

What is wrong with him? I've never had a betta do this before. Thanks!

Is he swollen at all?

You should fast him for three days, and if symptoms do not go away add 1tsp/g of pure, unscented, pre-dissolved Epsom salts.

What brand of food do you give him?

I would definitely switch to a higher quality pellet. Omega one and new life spectrum are two of the best pellets out there, and usually you don't see problems with SBD and constipation on a high quality diet. Do the fast treatment then start feeding him the new food.

Yup, I'm sure he will be fine. I've successfully treated SBD and things way more serious .
