What exactly is the point of fasting?

Weekly fasting lets the betta "clear out the system" and helps prevent constipation/bloat/sbd/digestion issues. Plus, in the wild, bettas don't get food every day so it helps mimic nature.

Swim bladder disorder... Basically when pressure is placed on the swim bladder (which controls buoyancy) causing floating or sinking, and/or other swimming issues.

Well, they're the same as any other animal... They need proper care and can and do get sick...
