Arrow How often should I

How often should I do a full water change for a 5 gallon tank with a gentle filter?

hmm i dont want to steer you wrong others will know more than me, i had jack in a 5 gallon for a while it never appeared dirty but i did a full change about every3 weeks. i think you can do your partial water changes for a while and be good for quite some time.

In a filtered, cycled tank you do not want to do full water changes unless something has gone really wrong. 25% once a week with a gravel siphon is adequate. 25% twice a week is better, only gravel vacuuming once though.

Every Sunday or Sunday I gravel vac and siphon 25-30% water. Every Wednesday I just scoop out a gallon and re add a treated gallon.

If your tank isn't cycled but has a filter, you can do 50% water changes once a week and a 100% change once a month.
