It wouldn't hurt to do a 100% water change then just keep an eye on him the next few days to make sure he's ok.

Go get a small piece of sponge and stuff it down there. Make sure its not to big or itll impede on the waterflow.

I wish I could, but with my filter, that's not possible. I tried looking but they way it it was built, nothing can go through there...
