What kind of pellets? Omega One and New Life Spectrum are the forum favorites.

I don't know anything about mysis or daphnia, but yes, bloodworms aren't meant to be a betta's primary food source. I feed them a couple times per week.

Aqueon is a good brand, however it doesn't mean the food is great.

What size are the pellets?

If frozen foods were considered a treat only, most of my bettas would be long dead.

There is no issue with feeding pellets as a staple and incorporating frozen foods more than once a week. Most frozen foods have a pretty low nutritional value and may be lacking in necessary vitamins, so you don't want to use them as your main source of food. However, this doesn't mean that you will harm your betta in any way if you want to feed both frozen foods and pellets every day of the week.

Mysis and Daphnia are also pretty good laxatives.

I have Aqueon pellets and I feed my boy 3 at a time, twice a day. It's been about a week and he's very active and doesn't seem particularly chubby (we try to exercise him with his air stone or a little plastic ball daily, too), so it seems like a good amount so far. Yesterday we gave him his weekly fast day so his digestive track could rest. :)

I also bought some frozen bloodworm cubes (he doesn't like the freeze-dried ones), but I haven't given him any yet.
