Question Overnight away, does this sound okay?

Alright, sometime in the near future my husband and I are going on an over night getaway.
We will have people at the house watching our boys and of course our fish! I was trying to figure out a way to keep them from doing anything so I can avoid any issues with the fish.
Here goes, so the day we leave I have to do a 50% water change in two of my tanks, would it be okay to do it a day early?
Also, I was thinking about feeding them their days worth of food all at once before I leave so they wouldn't have to feed them later that day. Would that work?
I'd be able to feed them again the next day when I get back.
If I can do all of these things before I go, all they'd have to do is turn the tank lights on and off as needed.

I would go ahead and do your water change before you leave. It won't hurt anything to be a day early. As far as feeding, I wouldn't worry about it while you're gone. You can feed them their regular amount before you leave and resume your schedule when you return.

I would do the water change a day early, no harm there. Feed them right before you leave and right when you get home. Also HIDE the food so your friends do not decide to feed the hungry looking fish while you are gone. Betta can survive up to 4 weeks with out food, so a day or two is no issue at all.

Hope you and your husband have fun! Get aways are always nice. My wife and I just got back from our first get away since our honeymoon 5 years ago... lol. it was nice :)

Thanks everyone!

Yes, we didn't even have a real honeymoon and this will be our first night away since having our kids! (I'm not counting the hospital stay to birth one of them haha!)

Then you guys are certainly deserving! We were not planning a honeymoon either, I was unemployed at the time and it was not financially possible. My mom surprised us with a week at a bed and breakfast in St. Augustine.

Enjoy the time away!

Oh that's good to hear D:

I'm going away to half way across the country next week to visit my mom, and my dad said he'd take care of them, but my father is pretty much a jerk... and has been tellling me to just let my fish die because it would be a cheaper alternative than nursing them back to health ~_~;;; so I don't really trust him.
