Thats terrible! My dad would help me if he was alive. My mom would feed my fish but nothing else. People just don't see fish as living, breathing beings. They're just ornaments.

What a terrible thing to do/say! I don't think I could trust anyone to care for me fish without detailed instructions. Even then I'd be worried.
I'm sorry he is acting like that. Maybe you can do a full 100% cleaning of the tanks and feed them well before you go and hope all is well when you get back?

Have a good trip!! Yes, what neenjar said, HIDE the food! Bettas can make them selves look so pathetic sometimes...

I went on Vacation for 2 weeks this spring, and worried about my boys every day!!
