My daughter has named him Petey. This Petey is actually a replacement for THE SAME EXACT fish, color markings, size and everything. 1 week before we got Petey #2, Petey #1 passed away. We came to realize that the front part of the house is/was too cold for our Petey after #1 passed.
I had to replace with the same exact kind of betta because my toddler was very attached to her fish and does not understand death as of yet. So we told her that he was sick and he had to go visit the fish doctor in heaven and we will go get Petey from the fish doctor here in Atlanta. Needless to say now when anything is broken or sick, she wants to take it to the doctor.
We have had Petey #2 since Saturday and he is happy and making all kinds of bubbles and even waits for food when we are anywhere near his tank. He plays hide and seek with his plant and has even flared up at the reflection of himself (once i read about flaring, I moved the mirror) He looks like such an angry little fish when flaring.
I was startled at first about the mass of bubbles he had blown, I thought he was ill, but soon realized this means he is happy and content and is probably wanting to spawn. Uhh no baby bettas here, a toddler and a fish are enough for me.
