I have a sad fish...

Hi all!

I posted a msg the other day bout my fish having large white spots...in the last 2 days he has seemed to be more lethargic and not as happy...

I want to give him a salt bath (as I think he has some sort of bacteria infection near his gills and Im pretty sure its not ich...well it doesnt look like ich.)

I live in a remote community in the outback of Australia and dont have immediate access to a pet store.
I dont have aquarium salt in my house to give him a salt bath to hopefully help him out.
Can I use normal table salt in a different quantity?

Do NOT use normal table salt!! The iodine in it will kill the betta!

NEVER PUT REG.SALT IN THE TANK! I had a betta fish 2 years ago and it killed him! maybe buy sea salt from the store. that might work 8)

oh thank you so much for letting me know about the salt! I would have felt so awful if I had killed him!

I will try and put some pics up later to show you the spots..we will get to the bottom of this!:)

Hard to tell form the blurry pics, but it looks like it could be ich.

Yeah, looks like ich to me. Get some ich meds. Jungle or Wardleys recommended by me. I got wardleys and it's working great. Cheap too.

Ich...oh dear...thats what I was really hoping it wasnt! :(

Im really worried about it, cause in the remote community/town I work in I wont be able to get medicine for 2 weeks..do you think me fish will die? The guy at the pet store told me I wouldnt need anything for medicince...and now Im stuck in the middle of nowhere 6 hrs from the nearest petshop.

Any ideas?
