Question Fun time for Bettas?

I was wondering if any of you put any toys or anything in ur tanks for ur bettas to play with? or what ways you play with them? Sometimes I feel really bad cuz it looks like hes so bored in his tank lol

You can get them to follow your finger or a red pen or something like that. Putting a mirror in front of them and letting them flare for a few minutes won't hurt them either.

On occasion I will use a mirror for them to flare. They seem to enjoy that.

Flaring is a good thing for them to do every once and a while. With each water change, I try and move the decor around or have something new for him to play in. I've heard of people putting a ping pong ball in the water, they float and sometimes the betta will push them around! None of mine are one bit interested but, maybe yours will like it!

Last night, I saw Blue Bonnet staring at her reflection in one of the glass gems in her tank. Then she attacked it! lol It was the funniest thing. Her body was vertical, with her nose in the rocks and her tail sticking straight up! lol

I was trying to get Blu to come close to my finger in his tank, (bonding if you will) & I noticed he started to flare his gills.
So in doing some research, I read some of these posts last night, & I tried the mirror trick, well now he flares every time I come near his tank, is he pissed at me now? & I notice you say it's good for them to flare, may I ask why, what does flaring do for them?
