Seriously Freakin Out

So I got my new betta yesterday. He seemed fine, no finrot, no other stuff going on.

Today as I sit here and watch the fish play in the current of the filter, I notice that my betta is swimming frantically about with his nose/mouth out of the water... and going backwards when he's not swimming. I've also seen him take really big breaths a few times earlier today.... Its damn freaky to watch.

Is there something wrong with him or is he just being silly?

He may not like the current. Some bettas like it and play in it and it really bothers others.

He probably doesn't like the current. It takes a little while for them to get used to it anyways. Imagine, your in a little tiny house, and then you move to a big huge house and it is really windy!!

Like the others said, I would think it's the current. Either unplug the filter and see how he does or slow the current down and see if that helps. Good luck!

I agree with everyone else. it seems like you should unplug the filter and see if he is better. if so, then maybe turn it lower so he can get used to it.

He's gone.

He never played in the filter. He'd float into it then swim off.

I just got home from a drive with the fam and he was gone....

So not happy! Just got him yesterday! Not buying anymore fish from that place!
