I woke up this morning and went to feed my babies. And when I looked at Ember I noticed his fins are getting worse! I treated him already with JFC and I thought it was working. I think that salt baths stress him out and it makes it worse or something. Because when I don't do salt baths his fins seem fine. But they were looking so good I didn't want them to worsen so I gave him a couple salt baths and now it's worse. Ugh! I started him with another treatment of JFC. Any other suggestions other than salt baths? I don't think he likes being taken out of his tank, at all. It seems to stress the crap out of him. I'm so worried my boy will never get better.

Try Maracyn1 and 2 together. Most finrot is bacterial from what I was told.

Yeah, I just need money. lol. I got JFC from a friend after I begged her to get it from me.
I switched out Merlin and Ember, I put Ember in the one gallon tank and Merlin in the vase. Merlin seems alot better so I figured he'd be alright. And I wanted Ember in the one gallon because it has a light which should help the water stay warm. I started him with another cycle of the JFC. You can tell it worked from before because the part where it shredded last week has grown back like half way. Then the bottom part is what's shredded now. So I'm going to treat him with this, then once that's done, just try to keep up with water changes and not stress him out.

You can see that it's just at the top and stringy looking. Here's it now.





Now in these you can see the top part healing nicely, but towards the bottom there's a big hole that I'm sure will turn stringy like the other.

Looks like it's still getting worse. I'm going to go pick up some Bettafix today and see if that works better than the JFC. I can't get a ride to a bigger pet store to get JFE or Ampicillin. Soo hopefully Betta fix works better. Any advice??

I'd go with the betta fix, water changes daily 100%, salt baths daily at least one.

Sorry you are having the problems :( if you were close I'd give you some of my JFE powder, I have a much larger bottle than I will use before it expires.

I have some JFE too, if only we lived a little closer! I had to order mine online though. I could no find it in any store.
I'm in the same boat as you with Antubis. He isn't getting any better. I even gave him 3 salt baths yesterday and I still see no change. I've been using a little salt and JFE in his hospital tank as well. I have no idea what else to do at this point.

Yeah but taking him out of his tank seems to make it worse somehow. It's like he gets stressed then his tail fins shred. It's so stressing. I'll do the Betta fix. If I change his water everyday, and the instructions for betta fix say to add more every day, then should I still do that? Like the first day put in 1/2 teaspoon. Then next day change 100% and then put in 1 teaspoon? Keep going like that or what?
Thanks for saying you would help me if we lived closer. That made me smile. I'm applying for jobs but we all know how horrible our economy is right now. But as soon as I get one, I'm getting them heaters, filters & meds to stock up on so I have them.

I wish you good luck finding a job, Vikki. I know its hard to find one with the economy the way it is. I hope the meds and salt baths help Ember.
