Vikki, a tip for getting them out of the tank with out much stress is lure them to the water surface, then use the cup they came in, put it in the water behind them and as you push the lip under water and water surges in they will get sucked in with the current :) No netting = much less stress.

I got one of those proper betta scoops now that the fish stays in water the whole time :) I love it. When you get a job and good luck on the hunt I highly recommend one! I got mine from Joel at Hawaii Betta.

Yeah I've done that. I actually just transferred him to the one gallon. But when he was in that vase, it curves toward the top so I had no room to scoop him out in the cup. I can do that now, thank gosh. But when I do the salt baths, how do I transfer him into a cup with the salt water if he's already in a cup of his tank water? Thanks for the help Neenjar, I appreciate it so so much.

Ember has also made my mind up that I am not buying any more bettas from Walmart. They can get some pretty ones, but not after this. Blue is from Walmart and he also got fin rot, not nearly as bad as Ember though. It looked like Ember had a bit of fin rot when I got him which is why I started salt baths and stuff, but then bam! fin tail shreds. So no more from Walmart. If I want more I'll have to try where I got my bettafix or actually drive 15 minutes to Petsmart.

I'm glad my Petsmart is within walking distance from my house.

Lucky, lol.
Hey get this,
the lady from that small pet store sold me a bottle of bettafix that expired in May of last year! Do you think it's still safe to use since it was never opened or what? I don't want to put my boy in any danger.

Okay, he's not getting better. I'm trying though.
Here's a couple pics of his tail now...
