Cool Simple Suggestions Wanted

I've owned Blu about 1 month now & still have some questions for these 'maintenance free' fish...I get so many conflicting answers...

Blu lives in his fishbowl, but I feel like he wants more, places to hide in & maybe he requires a few interactive activities???

Any ideas or suggestions as how to maintain a happy betta? Although he does not show signs of sadness.

Well if his jar is under 1 gallon then yes he wants more. Also no fish are 'Maintenance Free'. Bettas still require the things other fish need.

Although Bettas can live in a 1 gallon happily, I suggest a tank of at least 2 gallons. Bettas love attention. Do you have any plants for him? Even if you get fake plants, they still love it!!! Any sort of decor that they can swim in and out of is good.

No animals are Maintenance free. If you want maintenance free, get a rock. JK

Hello and welcome to FishForum. 2 gallons or larger is best for a betta. As doggyhog stated, plants and decorations would be good.If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. :)

Yep. I agree with the statements above. Bettas love room, plants & hiding spots.

Yep all above. Plants, and a nice little cave or some sort of hiding place are great. Keep up with water changes and make sure the temp of the water is maintained around 78-80 degrees.

Well, Blu had a live plant, but I just took it out as it started to fall apart, so before I bought more, I felt the need to ask. So, I see a complete tank makeover in Blu's near future!!
Thank you all for your suggestions!

Maintenance free is a very common bit of misinformation given out. The stores say that so the fish get sick, then you spend a fortune on meds, then they die and you buy another. It's a horrible marketing ploy.

Everything that has been mentioned so far is right on point, so nothing to add other than I'm happy you are considering a tank make over!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!! I am looking into the tank makeover & trying to find the right new home for Blu! LOL
I already have a 30 gal community tank, but my angels would not survive, so I'm told. LOL
Any suggestions for tanks/setups??
