Water changes before a vacation.

I usually do my water changes on Thursday, but I'm leaving Tues for a week long vacation. I have someone to feed my fish and other pets, but don't really trust people to do water changes for my fish. (Lost 3 bettas from other people taking care of my fish and messing with their water) I wanted to do a water change the night before I leave, would it be okay to push my water changing schedule by 4 days? I have a 10gallon cycled and a 1gallon bowl that got fresh water yesterday.

It should be fine. I don't think it would mess with your water quality. Have a good Vacation!

You can do water changes right before leaving and get back on schedule when you get back. I left mine for 2 weeks without water changes. I didn't really like doing that but I couldn't ask the person who took care of my fish to do water changes on 6 containers. She said she wasn't comfortable doing that anyway. For that length of time, they were fed every other day and that helped the water quality a bit too.

Thanks guys. I guess it just throws off my ocd to not keep my regular schedule haha. I hope to have a great time. Also, has anyone heard of http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=3635550 this tank?
I want to get Apollo something I can cycle because it's much easier to maintain and I feel less stressful for the fish.

The eclipse systems are great! You may need to make a diffuser for the outflow though as the current may be a bit strong for a betta, and you will need to prime the filter before powering it on after every water change.

K, I feel kind of dumb, but how do you prime a filter? I've never had to do that with my other filter.

I have the Eclipse Corner 5 and I love it! It has a very quiet filter! I just would say make sure to get a CFL bulb when you get it. It comes with an incandescent bulb (if it is like mine) and that was making my tank way to hot.
