Fin rot?

A couple of days after I brought him home, Pheonix appeared to be getting a slight case of fin rot. A hectic week later, I finally got around to posting this. 13 hour days full of band and soccor camp kinda got in the way lol But it looks like fin rot would look like because I've never seen a picture of what it looks like.

sorry I don't know how to put pictures directly into the post. It's the second picture in the album. If it is indeed fin rot, how should i treat it? I know many put theirs in a smaller tank, is that just so the treatment won't bother other fish? he has the tank to himself....

oh sorry, i forgot to mention exactly what it looks like, the picture is fuzzy, it was from my phone. the end is all grey and looks dead, and now little teeny holes are appearing in the slightly still red area, just past the grey. I know it has gotten worse since i first spotted it a couple days ago.
