no responses to my previous question about lethargic betta

please help. My betta, Boba, is still lethargic. His color seems to have faded and I now see some white around his face. He just stays still in the tank floating vertically with his mouth almost out of the water. He seems to be breathing hard as well. I did a water change, have given him Betta Fix for 2 days now. The water is 76 degrees. Filter working well. I think he may have fin rot as well. He will be a year next month.

In the next tank over, Abba, is doing incredibly. Amazing fin span and so vibrant. swimming around, responsive to me. A big healthy Betta.

Please, any suggestions?
I have a betta medical kit I purchased with antibiotics and other meds...

Do you have a heater? I would warm the water up to about 78-80ish. Do you use water conditioner? How often do you change water?

yes there is a heater in the tank. I change the water every 10 days to two weeks and use a conditioner.

Do betta's show signs of age? Don't they live 3 years with good care?

I treated his water with fungus eliminator tonight so I will see how he does by the morning.
thanks for replying!

If he's in a 1-2 gallon tank or bowl, his water should be changed one to two times a week.

Yes they do. Their fins will get longer and their color might fade.

I agree with getting a heater and definitely changing the water more often...especially if he is going through some kind of fin rot issue.

Bettas have been reported to live 10-15 years. This is of course with very large tanks and great care!!

how old is the fish and is it a new fish?fish do show signs of aging and sometimes die at 2 years of age. if its a new fish from the pet store then it was probably sick to begin with

Yep, new fish from the pet store are definitely a trip if you're not careful. Tian-Tian was a big mess when I brought him home. Over the next few weeks I nursed him back to health and he was mostly fine after that. But it's true that their colors may fade with age.... Tian-Tian was green (pictured left), but he has since turned blue and purple. And his fins are super-duper long. :o

But best of luck with your Betta! Apply a heater and do more frequent water changes! :)
I forget who said it on the forum to me when I first joined but they told me: "the best medicine for a Betta is clean water".
Good luck!
