filters ARRGGGHHH

I am on my 3rd filter and still don't think it's working well. I have the small capacity Tetra whisper filters in both tanks. They barely seem to be filtering the water. A small amount bubbles out. Is the clear intake tubing supposed to be above or in the gravel?

Back when I had the 50 gallon turtle tank I had 3 filters running all the time- two at one end and one at the other- and they still couldn't keep up with the mess.

How long has your current filter been running? and is it the right size for the tank? Often they won't work right if the pressure is off because of too little water in the tank.

It's the right size for the tank. I have had the water level issue as well but this is just a small amount of water drip drip drip out of one filter. the other looks OK right now- wasn't earlier.

I think its just a poorly manufactured filter, try a different brand. What brand is it?

I don't have any experience with the Tetra whisper since they are not sold in the EU, but the filters from tetra here usually work fine.

The intake of the filter needs to be above the gravel, not in it. When you clean the filter, do you also clean the pump rotor? Dirt can affect the rotor by slowing it down and the result is that less water is being pumped through the filter

The Tetra small tank filters aren't good at all!!!!
Is it the one the air pump connects to and it creates bubbles?
