White means fungus or is it his color?

Ole Nick has a large white spot under his mouth and on each side of his head. The patches on the sides are pretty much in the same spot, size and everything. I was initially worried about it being a fungus or some other infection. I've just completed a API Fungus Cure 4 day treatment cycle and there are no changes to the spots. He doesn't rub them on anything in the tank and acts healthy in all other regards other than those spots. Could it be that it's just his coloration or is it something worse than a simple infection? I can't get a good picture of it because of his swimming and the flash reflection.

Thank you,
Will

I gave Nick 3 salt baths yesterday and the spots haven't cleared. I do think I see another one :( I'm not sure if it's a damaged scale from running around or it's something more sinister....

Edited to add: He's active, curious and shows no physical signs of distress or illness other than those stupid spots.

Here's the best picture I could take. The spots are silvery colored like it is towards his tail. I'm hoping it's just a mottling of his coloration but with my luck probably not.

That looks like it could be color, is he a baby that is growing? It could also be velvet, I would not rush to treat, keep an eye on it and him, should his energy level change or anything I would start velvet treatment. For now keep an eye on him.

I'm not sure about his age but he's a Wally-world rescue. I'm going to say he's young because he's got some serious fin growth going on. I've only had him a month or so.

Thanks for taking the time to help me and Nick out!
