Wink How do you....

get your parents to allow you to be betta freaks? I asked my mom how she felt about my plans to take over my room with tanks and she grumbled lol. I already am saving to get another betta, only need a few things, and I don't think she is looking forward to the future number three or four lol

Hmm..well it helps if you are an adult sometimes...not always though lol. My folks like all my critters, well at least I think they do haha. Since they dont have to take care of them, its all good. I have a mini-zoo not including my fishies. I have now taken over all but two rooms in our place with fishies! I took over the kitchen counter much to my folks grumbling about it haha. We dont have much counter space to begin with, then I go put a fishy on it. Heh. I also moved my moms bread box to accomodate my new fish. Rearranged the living room so I could put my panda tank in there.

I think it helps if your folks like animals too bascially and know that you are taking care of them, without needing them for anything.

Yes, it does help if your parents like fish. My Mom isn't an animal lover and she hasn't said too much about my fish. But yeah, it does help being an adult. It also helps if you show your parents that you are a responsible person and take good care of your animals.

I haven't lived with a parent in years. I own my own home so the only one I need to convince is my non-animal loving husband. Strangely enough, he really likes fish! I guess they are the exception.

Well I live with my parents, but since I'm 21 and I take care of my own fish - they don't mind it to much. They just seem to think I put to much money into the tanks (beings that I am a poor college student lol). Plus, my mom likes to come in and see/check on Flair. I'm thinking of turning my 2nd tank into a community tank - which excited her the other day lol.

I'm 47 and live with my mom and she is not an animal lover like I said earlier. She doesn't much care for my fish but doesn't say too much. She does know how much my fish mean to me.

Yes, I take care of all my animals all by myself. I am responsible, I have a dog, and a cat with kittens at the moment lol. The fish will all be in my room, and my mom doesn't mind the cats because they live in our finished room downstairs so she doesn't have to be around them lol. She knows she won't have to deal with them but I have a feeling she doesn't like the idea for some reason.

Ask for a betta for christmas or a birthday present if your mom dosn't like the idea. You obviously deserve something for your birthday, so she will probably let you. I'm not alowed to get any pets or anything unless its for christmas or B day, so yeah. :)

I'd like to get a ferret or chinchilla - but that is something my parents refuse to let me have while living under their roof. lol. But yeah, the fish thing - it's hard to tell someone who is an adult "no you can't have a fish" especially if it is in their room in the house.
