I also had a hydor heater for my 5 gallon tanks and it made them around 84 degrees. I ended up just not using it cause my tanks stay at around 76-78 without it and my fish are very active.

What a pretty tank! Sorry I don't know about the heaters either.

I use Hydor heaters, but I use the 25 and 50 watt ones that have temperature. I didn't get the Hydor mini heater because it didn't have a temperature control. My boyfriend bought one for his small tank, and it heated to high I think. When I was on vacation I had the 25 watt Hydor heater in the hospital tank (2.5 gallons) and it was fine. Kept his tank 78-80 degrees constantly.
