New *king beta*

Hi everyone I'm new here and a couple days ago.. I was going to petco to pick up plants for my 4 bettas.I peeked over at the bettas to see if the king betta I had seen last week was still there.Well he/she was.The cup he was in was pretty dirty and he didnt have alot of room to move in.I tried to convince myself I really didn't need another betta.Long story short I couldn't leave him. He's now living in a 10 gallon all for himself. I'm not sure if it is a male or female. As you can see how thin he is.I'm really trying to think of a name for him.I would of gone for Maximus if I hadn't already had a Maximus. He's not brightest of colors but he needed me.He's eating great..any name suggestions would be appreciated.

That looks like a female to me. Probably her colors will brigthen up a bit once she gets some proper food.

Easiest way to tell if it's a female is look for the white egg spot on the belly. If it's there, then it's a female. If not, then it's a male.

That dosen't even look like a splendens to me. Most likely it's a male. But hey I could be wrong.

I don't need any more fish ... but I wish I had a "queen" betta for my sorority tank. :)

Marian, you're totally lucky.
