yellowish film in water????

what would cause a yellowish film to cover the top of the water in my bettas 5.5g tank?.... it doesnt just cover one area it covers the entire surface and i have to remove it theres no lid on that tank and the temp is being kept at 80-82 like my 20g but it has a lid and doesnt have that problem. i only have a female betta in the 5.5g

It's called protein film, harmless but not very pretty. You can use a paper towel to wipe it off the surface, you can also get a filter or air bubbler to keep the water moving and keep that film away
