Question Cover for tank?

My betta is in a 2.5 gallon rectangular aquarium. It came with a glass cover but I haven't put it on yet. I want to know if the glass cover is appropriate or if a screen type would be better.
Thanks.

as long as there is some space (at least 1/2") between the water's surface and the cover it should be fine, and as long as there is a gap somewhere on the cover for fresh air to get in.

otherwise I would recommend a screen type cover as used in terrariums.
