where to buy new fish?

Has anyone ever bought fish at PetSupermarket? Where is a good place to get new bettas? My last fish just died from some complications with his fish sickness... popeye, dropsy, and not eating.... And I am still very sad. I want to know where to get a nice, healthy fish and the ones at Petco looked super sick (some of them were already dead). Just let me know your opinions!

You can go on aquabid, or the classified section of this forum where you can adopt from other betta keepers.

They aren't bettas but I'll be looking to rehome some young guppies here in about a week.

Other wise yeah, check aquabid or the classifieds like Jennifer said.

I will buy a petstore Betta if It really grabs my attention, and looks healthy, but if I am going to breed a petstore betta I usually find a quality betta online for breeding. Petstore Bettas are not bad, as long as you get a healthy one. If you go into a store and the bettas are all in dirty water, and are losing color or have fin rot, then they are not being taken care of properly, so I woulden't buy one. However if most of the bettas are in clean water and most look healthy then I would buy one. I am lucky here where I live there are 3 or 4 locally owned aquarium stores, and they seem to take much better care of their bettas. You could look up aquarium stores on Yellow pages in your area. They might have bettas.

Are you in Canada or the U.S.? If so, I can recommend some breeders on here.

anyone else know where to buy bettas. I can't find the right female on ebay or aqaubid. or the classifieds. My local petstores don't have many to choose from and are mostly veiltals

Look in the spawn log section for US spawns that you like and PM the breeder.

I have one from Wal-Mart, 2 rescues (not sure where they came from) and the other 14 came from Petco. I'd love to have a couple I've seen on eBay and Aquabids but I just can't afford to pay that much for a fish. :(

I never have a problem finding males at the local petstores, my problem is finding a female that will start a good line. To me it's worth finding a female that's priced a bit higher like on aqaubid, I like to know the genes of at least one of the fish so that I have more to go on. female halfmoons are impossible for me to find localy
