Excessive flaring

So I have had Blueberry Therapy in my 1 gal tank for a while now and he has been flaring a lot at absolutely nothing. I have my other Betta in my 5 gal tank right next to him, but, I am using a folder for a divider. I dont think there is anyway he could sense him through the folder, but, I am concerned about how often he is flaring. Is there anything that would cause excessive flaring, like water conditions or feeding habits??

Are there any other fish or mirrors he can see?

Nope, just the two you see in the picture, with fish, there is a tank with out fish or water on the other side of the room. I don't think he is seeing a reflection from that, because he doesn't flare in that direction. He is usually flaring in the direction of the folder towards the other tank. lol

That, or maybe he's seeing his reflection, since it's easier to see with a dark background (I had this problem with my guy when he had a plain dark blue background to his tank). In my case, after a couple of days he decided he had won and began to ignore it. Did you just recently put the folder there?

Yeah. Sometime middle of last week. Do you think I should tape a piece of paper to it and make it white??

That might work, or use something that is not a solid color to break up the reflection. :)

He could be flaring at his own reflection due to the folder forming a background for reflection. Do you something that is a broken surface which could break up the reflection, such as a coarse screen? That could help.
