Question Thinking about getting a female....

Today, I was thinking about the wonderful 5 gal. that I plan to buy when I get done buying textbooks for this Fall semester. I've been planning to put Tian-Tian and Taco as roomies in a split tank now that both boys are back to normal (for those of you who have been following Tian-Tian's saga, he fought off a serious case of ich and fungus. He pulled on through stronger than ever and healthier than ever (not to mention PRETTIER!!)).

So here's when things get interesting: I originally planned to get rid of my other tanks (my two current ones).

And then I thought: why not get a female and house her in the 2.5 gal?

So I need to know a few things:

- Do females live about the same lifespan as males do?
- In the far future, IF I were to plan breeding, would either of my boys be too old for her? (I feel like a matchmaker, haha! *cue Fiddler on the Roof music*)
- Housing requirements: smaller size?(I've seen some tiny, tiny girls around) Bigger size (just because girls might need more space)? Same size as my boys ('cause she's still a Betta at heart?)?
- Feeding requirements: max amount of feed? And is it the same kind of pellets?

If I think of any more questions, I'll ask.
Should I go for it (when finances come in)?

Thanks, y'all!

I'd say less than a year old is best for breeding. My females are kept in smaller containers and I feed them the same amount as my boys.

Okay, thanks, y''all. :)

I wonder what colors I ought to look for...? I really like white body and bright, red fins. The blues are nice, too.... so hard to make a decision! :P

Somebody on here, I forget who, has the most beautiful ct female that has a light body with bright red fins. I'd like one like that too someday.

The light body and red fins are a common one I've seen in my area (though most of 'em are veiltails). I guess that's why I've come to love the color combination so much, lol. :D

I SAW A FEMALE LIKE THAT TODAY! lol. She was beautiful. But I didn't think she would be good for breeding with anyone.

I wish I had enough funds to have more than just three bettas! :D But alas, my future girl might be my last for a long time.
