Question Brand new plant idea!

So they had these on display at this store and what it is, is a simple vase with a plant over top with its roots dangling in the water below. I'm a little bit worried about Banana though, I'm not sure if the plastic cup on top is cutting off his access to air? Should I be concerned?

If air can get in there, I dont see a problem. Its a tad small though, or at least it looks like it. But its a cute set up :)

yeah air is the primary concern here- I'd watch the fish carefully and probably take take him out once a day and pour the water from there into a cup and back a few times to make sure there's air in the water. If he's not getting enough air you'll be able to tell- he won't be moving around as much and might either sink to the bottom or hang out near the top a lot.

I think I'd remove the plastic to be on the safe side. Bettas need to have access to air. Welcome to FishForum.

I would just remove the betta and put him in an actual tank. You can get like a 2.5 at petsmart for $13 bucks.

Yes, that seems very small. It is nice looking as a decoration, but not for a home for a betta.

I would have to agree with the above post. Plus, I don't see how a heater could possibly fit in there so the water is probably quite cold...not to mention that the plant would probably die if it's roots were in 80 degree water.

That is quite a cute decoration though...I'd buy one for my room just because it looks cute :)

I think you should actually get another tank or bowl for your betta. As said before, a vase is nice decoration, but not a good betta home.
