Unhappy First case of popeye

Kay, I've never dealt with popeye before, but guess what? Skai has it. Of course. lol. But I have Melafix and thank god it helps with that. I know, use smaller dosages. What do I need to know about it? It's not bad, its her left eye and its just swollen up a little. But thank gosh I noticed it early.

Melafix and Bettafix are the same thing, only Bettafix is not as strong so you could use a smaller dosage of the Melafix.Poor thing! I hope she gets better!

Yeah it's not bad. I was being a betta dork and looking at my fish, and I noticed it. So I immediately changed her water. I took a gallon of water and added 10 drops to it. Then I put it in her mason jar and put her back in. I will add one drop a day or so, I'll probably add a bit of water with it too to lessen the amount of melafix. I had bettafix, but the lady who sold it to me...well it expired a year ago. So I trashed it. Since I told her her bettafix was expired she threw it all out claiming "I didn't know it expired". So now she has none and I have no way to get anymore. So Melafix it is.

Yeah I've heard that if it goes untreated for over a week the betta can lose the eye infected or die.

So I've been treating her with Melafix since the day I started this thread and it doesn't look like it's made a difference. It's just a little swollen and cloudyish. I was wondering if maybe she got a cataract and went blind in that eye? I just haven't noticed anything different. Should I try to get a pic?

I really hope my new girl doenst have this :(

Her eye isnt cloudy at all it moves fine when she looks around, but its just slighty bigger then the other....

I need to get some melafix.

Doghog, did u give salt baths? or just put some in with the water? How much?

I dont want to medicate if its not acctually pop eye, im just changing the water daily, and i could add some salt.
