Tail Rot?

What exactly does it look like in the early stages? I've noticed Doc's back fin is looking a little shabby. Should I be using the drops? Or is this just like normal aging? Thanks guys!

Sometimes the fins will have pinholes in them or they will look a little frayed or maybe have black around the edges.

Well Doc's look frayed on the tips. Almost stringy? Should I be giving him something to treat it? And thanks for your response

I would try either Jungle Fungus Clear or Jungle Fungus Eliminator. The Fungus Eliminator comes in a powder form and may be easier to dose.

Ragged edges are generally a sign of tail rot. You definitely want to get it treated before it reaches the body, because then it becomes much harder to treat and is a definite threat to your buddy's life. I've used JFC with some success and am actually using it now since I noticed both my guys have some tail issues. Keep monitoring it and treat as quickly as possible because it progresses pretty quickly. A total water change and tank sanitation is probably also a good idea, because it'll make it easier to treat the fish without also having the bacteria living in the water working against you.
