I'm so sorry about Delilah! I agree with dr2b about having your water tested.

Sounds like something in the water...

Are you using water conditioner and aquarium salt when doing your water changes?

Are you using tap water? If so, are you using a filter on your tap water?

Are you testing your water or having it testing at least once every two weeks or more frequently?

An aquarium requires maintenance, a lot of maintenance sometimes. Something in the chain broke, you need to find out what it was. And I am going to take a guess that Delileah died from distress at the loss of her friend and possibly higher ammonia levels from fish dying in the tank.

That's terrible! I'd test your parameters and if everything checks out I'd try and get your tap water tested for chemicals and unusually high bacterial counts.

I'm so sorry this happened to you :(

i had my mom test the water for me (she has her own testing kit at her house) and she said it was all good. When I changed the water, I put water conditioner in it and let the filter do its thing for an hour and a half before putting the fish back in (because so much of the water was changed).

Do you think because maybe the tetra that died had something, and the bettas (or one or two) picked at it? because when I found it, it was well over half eaten...

When she tested it, did she test ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites? I am curious about your water hardness and what not (gH and kH) or if there were any contaminates in the water (bacteria, metals, etc).

I'd probably be most concerned about bacterial counts which I don't think you can test by yourself. Maybe go to your local watershed and see what they tell you.

fishyinpa: Sorry to hear that you're having so much trouble lately :( I hope everyone gets better soon!
