Talking what to look for in bettas?

well when i got my first to bettas i was not very informed so i wanna get this right and i would like to know on what to look for in bettas when you are getting a new one I EMAILED PETCO ABOUT THE 12 DEAd BETTAS

all i want is 9 healthy bettas

Look for one that is moving around and not laying on the bottom of his cup. Make sure there are no torn fins or any spots on him.

Yeah, just make sure he/she is lively. Bubble nests in the cup, and flaring are good signs that the betta is in pretty good condition.

I find it's a little easier to pick a healthy one if you avoid the really light colored ones until you get more experience- because so many illnesses make them pale. How can you tell if a white fish is pale? You can't. So I tend to stick with the dark colored fish.

When I picked out Blaze he was swimming around and around his cup so I thought that was a good sign.

and some people have put males' cups next to each other to see if they flare, those that do are healthy. thats just one way of course
