Help - wispy, cottony things floating in water!

I've had this problem before with other fish and can't figure out why. Just got new male betta and within a week, he had white, whispy things floating all throughout the water. I've tried everything...taking out aquarium salt, using melaleuca, etc. It's so gross, I'm changing his water every day, which I know is bad. I've had many bettas - I'm not new to this. Have one female betta who is over 5 years old now! Her name is Sharky.

But this problem has me stumped. Does anyone have any advice please??

Hello and welcome to FishForum. What kind of water conditioner are you using?

I am using API Stress Coat Tap Water Conditioner. I'm using it for my other two fish and they don't have any water issues, so I think it is ok. I use straight tap water and right now the fish is in a small 1/2 gallon bowl, totally plain - no rocks/gravel/nothing.

ok. I thought maybe it was the aloe vera in the stresscoat that was doing it.

Yea i have the same problem. I thought it was just dust at first from my lamp
