Smile New Fishy

Hi everyone! This is my first post

I have had 1 gold fish that I got at fair and two betta's.
The Gold Fish lived for 2 days. His name was Larry
The first betta fish lived for 1 year. His Name was Sparky Pants
The second betta lived from 12/24/07-8/11/09. His name was Clyde Pants/ ClydeThe Fish

Anyway I'm wondering if I should get another male and if I should get a fillter for my 2.5 gal. If I go with a male Betta I am going to name Him Mr. McFish

Hello and welcome to FishForum. You don't have to have a filter but they certainly help to keep the water cleaner.

DQ is right, make sure you keep up with the water changes if you don't get one

Talking

I think it is a funny name too. That's why I picked it

I might get a filter. Do you have to change the water less or is that the same with a filter.

It is less with a filter, I'm not sure how many times and how much each time it would be then. I have and unfiltered tank 5 gallon, I would let someone else answer that one lol.

I THINK that might be ok, that's about how often I clean mine and its bigger, but unfiltered. I do a 100% every 2 weeks, 50% on the off-week inbetween the 100% changes, and because he has finrot, a 10% change every salt bath.

Cool

Well I have been doing the once every 1-2 weeks with my 2 betta fish ( One died because he was bloated and the other because he almost lived to and Clyde died because he was almost full size when I got him and he amost lived to be two) and for my brothers bettas. He had one that died of being almost full size when he got her and living 1 year. My brother has a girl betta named Speedy I will upload photo's of Speedy later today.
