Poor Giovanni

My little Giovanni is acting very strange today and I'm hoping someone can help. He's currently being treated for a rather bad case of fin rot (he had it when i got him) and has been showing signs of fin regrowth.

He's in a 1 gallon bowl as a hospital tank with full water changes every other day, as well as salt baths once or twice a day.

Today he's been resting a lot, and when he does start to swim he spends a lot of time trying to nip his tail. Anyone have any ideas what this new symptom may indicate?

It may be that the salt baths are stressing him out and thats why he's tryiing to bite his tail. Thats just a guess though.
